Family-friendly community event on March 5
Reno, Nev. – The Associated Students of the University of Nevada’s Department of Programming will host a dance competition, “Dance Collaboration,” next month to fill the recent demand in the Reno area for coordinated dancing and competitive step shows. The competition will include up to 25 local dance teams and a finale performance from Hype 5-0, a Hawaii-based dance crew that placed third on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” in 2010.
“With the hosting of ‘America’s Best Dance Crew,’ the dance scene has been on the rise,” said Wesley Nilsson, special events programmer for ASUN. “We wanted to bring an event to our community and campus that gives locals the opportunity to compete and become recognized dancers. This is the first time an event like this will be hosted in the Reno area and we are working hard to make it a success.”
“Dance Collaboration” is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. on March 5 at Lawlor Events Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Admission for University students with a student ID is $5 and general admission is $10. For more information, go to www.asun.unr.edu.
