Sandra Ott received her PhD in 1979 for Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford. She has done many hours of field work in the Basque country and is fluent in the Basque language. She is part of the Association of Social Anthropologists in the U.K., the Eusko Ikaskuntza or Society of Basque Studies in the Basque Country, the European Association of Social Anthropologists, and the
American Anthropological Association.
